What British Airways and volcanic ash have done for the Nicols......

Scott was supposed to go on a ski trip to Chamonix, France with a few friends the last weekend in March. Well, British Airways employees decided to strike. This meant that he and his pals would not be able to get back from the continent in time to turn up for their various commitments.

Scott was so disappointed, he really needed that getaway and was so looking forward to it. So the day after he received this news, he came home from work and said, "I need a holiday and I want to go somewhere warm, sunny and relaxing with the kiddos." It was still snowing every other day in Glasgow and the cloud cover seemed to have no lift in sight. And the boys had their Easter/spring break coming up. In 2 weeks. For 2 weeks. I needed to get crackin.

All-righty-then. You see, in 15 years of marriage, he's never said this. So I needed to act fast. Before he changed his mind. Vacation planning seems to always come from me. Because my middle name is GO! Any hoo. Back to the story.

After consulting with the travel agent, we only had a few choices with availability and guaranteed sun this time of year in this part of the world. So we decided on this place:

Mauritius. Pure Bliss. It's an island off the coast of Madagascar off the SE coast of Africa. And we would be stopping in Dubai on the way home. Sun, glorious sun. For 2 full weeks! Yippee, yahoo.

And now, thanks to the volcanic ash hoovering above the UK, we are stuck in Dubai. For at least another week if not 2. Yippee, Yahoo times 2! Oh boy. Spending Charlie's college fund. Please don't tell him.

More soon...
